Day 67 - Friday 7/20 - got offer from Highline and accepted it. Cancelled lunch with Tom Gobiele, breakfast with Precision and phone call with Acculight. sent thank-you notes to Tim. Michael, Todd, Virginia and Scott.
Day 66 - Thursday 7/19 - talked to Scott Campbell about Highline. Heard from Tim, Michael & Todd that they were checking my references. Heard from Cheri Dolezal (Community Services, Clark County) that David Johnson is one of the best agency directors in the State.
Day 65 - Wednesday 7/18 - talked to Ed Bright about Precision interview next Tuesday. Reviewed F/S and other Highline material.
Day 64 - Tuesday 7/17 - Interviewed at Highline (Elizabeth Ward, Mary Tott, Sonja Kreshel and Steve Krause.) Got a call from Jennifer Quinn at Acculight (425-482-1100 Ext. 131) and set up an interview for 2:30 on Monday.
Day 63 - Monday 7/16 - Contacted references and sent the list to David Johnson. Heard from Sandra Sward that I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon with the providers and the finance people and a panel interview on Friday
Day 62 - Friday 7/13 - Heard from David Johnson that he wants to schedue several interviews next week with the intent of completing the process then. Applied to Aculight (off their website) and to Microsoft for a controls and compliance director (also off their website - their resume builder says it accepts 32,000 characters but really won't accept any.)
Day 61 - Thursday 7/12 - interviewed with Chuck Hoffman at Highline. Emailed David Johnson about next steps.
Day 60 - Wednesday 7/11 - interviewed with David Wemmer at Mikron
Day 59 - Tuesday 7/10 - got a call from David Johnson and set up a meeting with Chuck Hoffman for 10:00 on Thursday at Highline. Got a call from Tom Gobielle's assistant and set up a lunch meeting for 7/20 at NCA.
Day 58 - Monday 7/9 - set up interview at Mikron for Wednesday at 2:00. Interviewed with David Johnson and with a panel at Highline. Got a call from Ed Bright saying that Precision wanted me to meet with their owners at 9:00 on the 24th. Emailed Karen Duncan and Chris Martin to see what I could find out about Chuck Hoffman, the treasurer at Highline.
Day 57 - Friday 7/6 - talked to Art Freeman about meaningful jobs. Got a message to call Amy Rhodes at Mikron. Got a message from Scott Campbell at Highline.
Day 56 - Thursday 7/5 - emailed back and forth with Ed Bright about the Precision interview. Watched the Highline videos.
Day 55 - Tuesday 7/3 - Interviewed at Precision. Called Todd Wright and thanked him for the reference. Got a call from Amy Rhodes at Mikron. emailed her a resume and she said she would likely get back to me to set up an interview for next week.
Day 54 - Monday 7/2 - Spent time on the Precision web site. Completed a personality questionnaire for Precision. Applied to Mercent. Applied to Providence. Figured out that the Healthcare CFO position in Monster was Radia (got a position description from Nancy Truitt Pierce.)
Day 53 - Friday 6/29 - Got logistics and details of Precision meeting worked out with Ed Bright. got a call from Jessica at NCA saying that Tom and Michele were out next week and would get back to me the week of the 9th. Applied to a healthcare CFO add in monster
Day 52 - Thursday 6/28 - Set up a time on the 9th to interview at Highline. Set up a time on the 3rd to interview at Precision Machine. Applied to The Seattle Times. Applied to Mikron.
Day 51 - Wednesday 6/27 - Heard from Sandra Sward that they couldn't arrange interviews until the week of 7/9. I told her I was available any day that week. Sent a resume to Judy Smith and got a thank-you. Got a call from Ed Bright about Precision Machine in Tacoma and told him that I needed to confirm my commitments before I could commit to 7/2 or 7/3. Reviewed NWjobsource, Monster, Careerbuilder, Craigslist and hotjobs - identified three or four ads to respond to tomorrow.
Day 50 - Tuesday 6/26 - interviewed with Tom Varga (of CFO Selections) for the NCA positiion. Sent him a thank-you note. Heard from Tim Ross and Michael Pickett that NCA had checked references. Sent them thank-you notes. Got a call from Chris Corwin of Korn Ferry about a position with Providence in Missoula. Told her that I was committed to Seattle but she sent me the email address of Judy Smith, the person at Providence who referred me. Sent Chris a thank-you note. Got an email from Sandra Sward saying that they'd let me know as soon as they had a schedule.
Day 49 - Monday 6/25 - got a call from Michele King saying I needed to interview with Tom Varga (Managing Partner of CFO Selections) Agreed to meet at 11:00 on Tuesday. emailed Sandra Sward about next steps for Highline. She asked me when I was available next week and I replied that I was out the 5th and 6th.
Day 48 - Friday 6/22 - sent references to Michele King. Applied to AmDoc. Talked to Scott Campbell about Highline. Interviewed at NCA.
Day 47 - Thursday 6/21 - got a request for references from Michele King at NCA.
Day 46 - Wednesday 6/20 - read the Highline web site and got copies of their most recent Form 990s. developed list of talking points. Left message for David Johnson.
Day 45 - Tuesday 6/19 - got a call from David Johnson (933-7225) the CEO of Highline Mental Health. Agreed to call him back tomorrow.
Day 44 - Monday 6/18 - reviewed Monster, NW Job Source, Craigs list, hotjobs, etc. Applied to Visting Nurse Services.
Day 43 - Friday 6/15 - got feedback (or really news that there was no feedback) from kristy. got an email from Michele King confirming the NCA interview for 3:00 on 6/22
Day 42 - Thursday 6/14 - Gorsuch called to cancel lunch and tell me that he'd made an offer to the other guy. emailed kristy. Got a call from Michele King at NCA and set up a Pannel interview for Friday 6/22. Reviewed Craigslist and hotjobs. Sent resume to Highline Mental Health. got an email back from Sandra Sward asking for a copy in word. Sent it to her an got an email back saying she hoped to talk to me further.
Day 41 - Wednesday 6/13 - emailed Michele King a thank you note. Called Ed bright about Precision Machine and told him to present my name. Reviewed Hotjobs, Monster and NWJobsource.
Day 40 - Tuesday 6/12 - interviewed with the pannel at City University and then with the VP of academic affairs. Go a call afterwards setting the lunch appointment with the president for 11:30 on Thursday. called back to confirm. Interviewed with the interim CFO (Michele King) and the HR person at NCA. Got a call and an email from Ed Bright about a CFO position at Precision Machine in Tacoma.
Day 39 - Monday 6/11 - Got a request from Lee Gorsuch's assistant for a lunch on Thursday. Talked with Kristy Gibson about meeting with pannel tomorrow and meeting with Gorsuch on Thursday. Got list of questions or pannel interview.
Day 38 - Friday 6/8 - got a request for another meeting with the pannel at City University. Agreed to meet with them on Tuesday 6/12. Left a follow-up message with Steve Strawn at Imagenet.
Day 37 - Thursday 6/7 - Interviewed with Michelle King (interim CFO at NCA) and arranged a 2nd interview on Tuesday 6/12. Let Kristy know about thank-you I sent to Lee.
Day 36 - Wednesday 6/6 - Interviewed with a pannel at City University. Interviewed with Lee Gorsuch, President of City University. Emailed Kristy afterwards with a report. Emailed Lee a thank-you.
Day 35 - Tuesday 6/5 - Called Kristy Gibson and discussed the City University interview. Sent a resume to the COO opportunity from yesterday and also to this sales position that I saw while I was on CareerBuilder.
Day 34 - Monday 6/4 - Got a call from Michelle King at NCA and set up an appointment for a phone interview at 9:00 on Thursday. Confirmed with CJ Gibson the time for City University interview on Wednesday. Didn't see anyting on WSJ, Monster, NWjobsource or craigslist sites, but Hotjobs had this which I'll probably apply to tomorrow.
Day 33 - Friday 6/1 - heard from Ed Bright that Varolii was going with someone else. Sent a resume to Providence Everett. Sent a resume to NCA. Sent a resume to aQuantitative for a general manager position. Sent a resume to redfin. Sent an email to Steve Strawn at Image Net asking where things stood.
Day 32 - Thursday 5/31 - got a call from Intellectual Ventures saying that they were going to continue looking for someone with more recent public accounting experience.
Day 31 - Wednesday 5/30 - interviewed with Lily Guse at Intellectual Ventures (and separetely with three of her team.) Sent her a thank you email afterwards inviting her to contact Brent Johnson or Rick Greaves. Sent an email to CJ Venkatta thanking her for referring me. Got an email from Chris Martin saying that ImageNet hadn't contacted her yet. Replied that they weren't talking to me either.
Day 30 - Tuesday 5/29 - ESD seminar in the morning. Long phone call with Todd Wright. completed application and other forms for Intellectual Ventures.
Day 29 - Friday 5/25 - Interview with John Merciadez from Intellectual Ventures. Got email with NDA and application from Casey Ellsworth.
Day 28 - Thursday 5/24 - Reviewed Monster, NWjobsource, Hotjobs & Craigslist without seeing anything that really fit me. Phone interview with Jackie Knox (CFO Select) about a regional consulting firm. Should hear in the next couple of days if I've survived the initial screening. Talked to Ed Bright about the VP-Controller position and asked him to present me - the company is Varolii Software. Called Chris Martin to ask for permission to use her as a reference. Emailed Todd for the same reason. Sent email with references to Brad Hanson. Talked to John Merciadez and Casey Ellsworth at Intellectual Ventures and set up a call for tomorrow morning and an interview for next Wednesday (opportunity came through CJ Venkata via Nancy Truitt Pierce.)
Day 27 - Wednesday 5/23 - Heard from Kristy Gibson that I had survived the first round at City University. Set a date of June 6th for the second interview. Met with Brad Hanson at Sienna - he asked for references.
Day 26 - Tuesday 5/22 - Call from Brad Hanson at Sienna Partners concerning Imagenet. Set up a meeting for 9:00 on Wednesday. Call from Jackie Knox of CFO Select concering a confidential CFO opportunity in Bellevue. Set up a phone appointment for 9:00 on Thursday. Email from Ed Bright concerning a controller position with a pre-IPO software company. Asked him to present me.
Day 25 - Monday 5/21 - interviewed with Edifecs. interviewed with Imagenet. Interviewed with Bob Kalember (ended up eliminated.) sent follow-up emails to Steve Strawn about Imagenet and Carol Ryan about Edifecs. Called Kristy Gibson about City University and got an email back saying that they had one more first-round interview tomorrow.
Day 24 - Friday 5/18 - confirmed that Edifecs was rescheduled for Monday the 23rd. Got a voicemail from Robert Kalember (the "FPC Hinsdale" guy - 630-920-1952) and I sent him an email saying that I'd call him Monday. Jim Odiorne, the Deputy Insurance Commissioner, was in my WSCPA class and said that they were always recruiting CPAs.
Day 23 - Thursday 5/17 - rescheduled Edifecs again - this time for the 23rd.
Day 22 - Wednesday 5/16 - heard from Carol Ryan that I had an interview at Edifecs on the 24th
Day 21 - Tuesday 5/15 - sent a resume to IntegraMed. Got a message from Carol Ryan about an interview at Edifecs for Thursday or Friday - asked her to see if we could do it next week. Heard from Passage that I got eliminated on Polyclinic. Updated profile on PWC website. Created profile on Gates Foundation website and applied for business analyst job. Applied for the PFS assistant director at UW medical center. Applied for the CFO position at Imagenet (from hotjobs) and got a call from Steve, the CEO almost immediately to set up an interview for Monday. Let Carol Ryon know not to schedule Edifecs then.
Day 20 - Monday 5/14 - Had lunch with Pam Longston & Russ Bong. Interviewed with Jim Ladd and Nancy Johnson at City University. Got a reply from Laura Bruemmer at PWC about how to update my profile but I couldn't get into their website. Mary Pat Beltzer (from Orion / Jenifer Girard) called and emailed me to tell me about an opportunity at City University! Ellen Boyer replied to my email saying that I should investigate the referral service at FEI. Sent an email to Jim Passage asking about Polyclinic. Sent follow-up emails to Kristy Gibson, Jim Ladd and Nancy Johnson.
Day 19 - Friday 5/11 - Sent resumes to Cathy Hylton and Ellen Boyer. Asked Cathy how to use the PW website to circulate within the firm. Set up interview with City University for 1:00 on Monday. Spent some time on their website. Set up lunch with Russ & Pam at the Bellevue Club at 11:30 on Monday. Got a reply from the "FPC Hinsdale" guys saying that they would be in touch with me. Followed up with Carol Ryan about Edifice and she said she was waiting to hear from them whether or not they wanted to interview me.
Day 18 - Thursday 5/10 - Sent resume to Sharon Rowley who forwarded to Bob Schneider, formerly of Hillhaven. Got replies from Woodward & Wright. Got reply from CJ Venkataraman at Intellectual Ventures saying that HR would be in touch with me. Sent resume to Secondspace. Sent resume to "FPC Hinsdale" for a business unit controller / CFO position. Went to the PWC alumni event and talked to Ellen Boyer & Cathy Hylton.
Day 17 - Wednesday 5/9 - Sent resume to SolutionsIQ (found via hot jobs.) Sent resume to Intellectual Ventures (referred by Nancy Truitt Pierce.) Emailed Craig Rowley about Hillhaven guy. Got an email from Michael Hall saying that he would circulate my resume at Moss Adams. Emailed Jason Woodward and Todd Wright.
Day 16 - Tuesday 5/8 - Kristy Gibson says that my references checked out well and that Jim Ladd at City University wants to meet with me. Sent an email to Karen Duncan with a link to the Perot Systems add and a note that I haven't heard anything from Butler. Talked to Craig Miller who says Sharon knows the former CEO of Hillhaven who is now doing healthcare related turnarounds. He tried to recruit me for the Braided River board.
Day 15 - Monday 5/7 - Got an email from Tim Ross saying that Kristy Gibson had checked references with him. Reviewed Craigslist, Monster & NWJobSource without seeing anything on target. Noticed that Perot is recruiting a Revenue Cycle director in Kent.
Day 14 - Friday 5/4 - Called Michale Levine (212-541-7676) opportunity was in Nashville. Emailed Nancy Truitt Pierce contact info to Michael Pickett. Called Virginia Felton.
Day 13 - Thursday 5/3 - emailed Tim Ross and Michael Pickett to say that Kristy Gibson might be calling them; emailed contract info to Kristy. Got message from Michael Levine from Liberty.
Day 12 - Wednesday 5/2 - met with Jim Passage about Polyclinic. Talked to Kristy Gibson about references for City University. Emailed Brent Johnson with thanks for headhunter referals (Mark Tranter and Carol Ryan). received email from Jennifer Girard.
Day 11 - Tuesday 5/1 - met with Carol Ryan at 2 degrees. She will present me to Edifecs. Talked to Jim Passage and set up a meeting with him tomorrow about PolyClinic. emailed a resume to RPI (from Craigslist)
Day 10 - Monday 4/30 - replied to Mark Tranter from CFO Select (he got my name from Brent Johnson.) reviewed Monster, NWJob source and Craigslist and applied to Polyclinic from the NWJS site. Identified three other opportunities to do applications for. emailed Todd Wright. applied for unemployment.
Day 9 - Friday 4/27 - emailed a brief summary to Pickett so that he could circulate my resume to Point B people. replied to Tim Ross that I'd appreciate it if he could pass my resume on to the other folks at Liberty who knew me. emailed Kristy Gibson that I was interested in the City University position (which was passed on to me by Nancy Truitt Pierce) and had a long phone conversation with her about the position.
Day 8 - Thursday 4/26 - emailed resumes to Kristy Gibson and Elena Speed (the contractor person at Accounting Partners.) got a call from Carol Ryan and set up a meeting for next Tuesday (she got my resume from Brent Johnson.) Had lunch with Michael Pickett - emailed him a resume.
Day 7 - Wednesday 4/25 - emailed resumes to Norman Behar and Tim Ross. Replied to Jennifer Girard with a resume. emailed Matthew Levy at Kindred Partners about Medio (opportunity came through Nancy Truitt Pierce.) got a reply from Brent Johnson saying that he would circulate my resume among the KPMG partners.
Day 6 - Tuesday 4/24 - emailed resumes to Michael Hall and Brent Johnson. Got a reply from Mike Butler. emailed Scott Campbell about lunch. signed up for two more WSCPA classers.
Day 5 - Monday 4/23 - checked WSJ, Monster, Craigslist and NW Source and didn't see anything I wanted to apply for. Emailed Michael Pickett about lunch. Emailed James Bloomer about Door-To-Door. Emailed a resume to Mike Butler at Providence. Signed up for two WSCPA classes. talked to Ed bright.
Day 4 - Wednesday 4/18 - updated resume. applied to the two Monster opportunities (one blind, one Amazon.) Lunch with Chris and Karen. Completed application for UW internal audit position.
Day 3 - Tuesday 4/17 - emailed Brian Turner, Michael Pickett and Jennifer Girard. Identified an internal audit position on NW Source as something I want to apply for. Saved two positions on Monster.
Day 2 - Monday 4/16 - heard back from Ed Bright. Heard from Julie Baker that I didn't get the Talyst CFO job. Asked her to keep an eye out for me. Emailed Russ Bong and Pam Longston about lunch on 5/14.
Day 1 Friday 4/13 - emailed Chris Martin, set up lunch with her and Karen Duncan. emailed Ed Bright. emailed resume to an ad on Craigs List for a director of finance. Interviewed with Jim Bloomer for the Door-to-Door CFO job.
