A note on the sound: this recording comes from an audio tape that was sent to me by someone, and I have no real clue what generation it was but it sounds good to me. A little over-modulated with the bassier bits (ie SAD and Teenage Werewolf, Human Fly), but otherwise grand.

This set’s for Lux and especially Ivy. And, of course for Cramps fans.

This is the complete (?) Memphis Demos from 1977, when The Cramps along with their new drummer, Nick Knox, headed down south to the legendary Sun Studios to kick out some tunes for a planned album. These tracks sound similar to the tracks that have been officially released as the Vengeance 45s and Bad Music For Bad People lp, but as a diehard fan of The Cramps, I guarantee you that these are different takes. The differences are subtle, but there are differences. The three tracks — TV Set, I Was A Teenage Werewolf and Sunglasses After Dark — are different than those off of Songs The Lord Taught Us, and you’ll hear the differences immediately. Heck, Lux’s vocals on Teenage Werewolf are clearly practice ones, too (or, at least, unedited).

I’m putting this out there under less-than-preferred circumstances, the death of the greatest frontman in rock’n’roll ever — Lux Interior. Here’s hoping that Ivy doesn’t sit on the official release that was intended to be released of these sessions, Gravest Gravy, in honor of Lux — the love of her life (and vice-versa).

Goodbye, Lux. You’ve ruined me for life — thank you.
