There is a jazz festival in Lugano in the Italian part of Switzerland called Estival Jazz. Over the years I’ve seen performances on Dime from “Estival” but I’ve never paid any attention to them. Lugano is made up of several locales so the naming of the concerts isn’t completely uniform. Like most European festivals, Estival appears to be rather flexible with its definition of the Jazz genre. In December 2014 I picked up something listed as a Tito Puente bootleg from Estival Jazz Lugano in 1995 and I was blown away by the quality of the recording. There is not a lot of information of the web about the “SwissBird, SimplexSimplicissimus & superMAX release” series, but they are a bunch of excellent soundboards with professional artwork. I’ve come across references to NaughtyKnight and an AOL web address that no longer works, but not much more. It seems that all of these recordings were uploaded to etree or dime some time ago, as they were pretty much all unavailable at the end of 2014. (Most of the recordings listed here were seeded to Dime in a flood over the holidays.)
