last minute route changes

Dear RSVP rider,

Every year, summertime road construction makes RSVP an adventure for riders and organizers alike. In addition to the rider alerts that we sent to riders in an email last week, we want you to be aware that we have adjusted the original RSVP route at miles 7.25, 52.1 and 77.0 due to road and trail closures. We will be marking the course to the best of our ability, but please be prepared to be flexible.

Day one: Mile 7.25 – Stay on Bothell Way (SR 522) for one-half mile and turn right on 61st Ave. NE to access the trail at the bottom of the hill. VIEW MAP

Due construction on the Burke-Gillman Trail, there are stairs that will make it difficult to access the trail from Beach Dr. NE. Riders will need to stay on Bothell Way (SR 522) past Ballinger Way NE. Please ride single-file in this area and use extreme caution.

Day one: Mile 52.1 – Possible road closure at the 100 block of S. Stillaguamish Ave. in Arlington. Please pay close attention to route markers.

Day one: Mile 77.0 – Due to a road closure, the following detour route will be in effect. The detour will add two miles to the RSVP route.

  • 77.0 – Straight DO NOT GO OVER BRIDGE (bc Stewart Rd.)
  • 77.3 – X (cross) under I-5
  • 77.4 – Left onto Freeway Dr.
  • 77.9 – X E. College Way
  • 79.0 – Right turn on W. Division St.
  • 79.4 – X Wall St. (4-Way stop) becomes Memorial Hwy SR 536
  • 81.2 – Right on Avon Allen Rd.
  • 81.7 – X Avon St.
You’re now back on route at route map mileage of 79.7 miles.

Additionally, if you will be departing on Saturday morning and riding RSVP2, please be aware that all restaurants in Lynden will be closed on Sunday. This means that if you’re counting on eating breakfast on the road, you should eat before you leave Bellingham. For your convenience, here’s a map showing locations and hours of restaurants that will be open on both Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Thanks again for riding with us this weekend! We’ll see you at the start line.

Special thanks to our volunteers, repair crews and sponsors:
