The B-52’s – Strobe Light

here is the info file from Dime

B-52’s Mega-rare Restored Vinyl “Strobe Light” 1979-08-24 Boston, MA (FM? aud?) Speed-corrected and rejoined for your dance party (mp3 sample included)

I haven’t been around much for anyone, many projects are waiting in the wings…

From when the B-52’s were a five-piece band, this hoppin’ show was recorded at the Boston Performance Center with a cheap cassette deck. There’s a little bit of audible wow and flutter in the recording, but you won’t mind that a bit as the performance is as good as it gets.

Centrifugal Records was somewhat of a rip-off record label. Let’s just say that on their first pressings, they “forgot to tell you” that the 2LP set you were spending major cash on was set to play at 45RPM instead of 33 1/3. This meant that they could have easily fit this show into a single-record set Running at 45 in of itself might have resulted in better sound quality, but the source material they always used wasn’t worth the effort. To top it off, this particular set didn’t run at 45, it ran somewhere around 38-39RPM, requiring a ton of slow-down to make it pitch correctly. Anyway, it’s now sounding as good as I can make it.
