This trail will eventually be paved but for the foreseeable future there will be a gravel section in Sammamish. The idea is that this trail will tie the Sammamish Waterway and Burke Gillman into the Issaquah – Preston trail which connects to the Snoqualmie Valley and John Wayne Trails – resulting in an incredible off-road east-west route.
The opening of the trail was delayed by a bunch of lawsuits in the late 1990’s & early 2000’s – here’s an article about the opening of the new trail.
